The Board of Trustees of the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy formally announces the opening of the Search for PMMA President

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Not less than thirty-five (35) years old and not more than sixty-one (61) years at the time of application. Sixty-one (61) years old shall mean from actual date of birth and not a day older beyond 61 years old.
  2. A natural-born Filipino citizen
  3. Must be a master mariner and preferably with a graduate degree obtained from a CHED-recognized higher education institution.
  4. Must have administrative experience in managing a higher education institution or in maritime industry for at least three (3) years.
  5. Must not have been convicted of any administrative offense or of any crime involving moral turpitude

An applicant who does not meet any one of the abovementioned minimum qualifications and cannot submit pertinent supporting documentary evidences for these minimum qualifications on the set deadline shall be disqualified from the Search Process.

Documentary Requirements

1. Formal Application Letter addressed to:

2. Detailed Curriculum Vitae, signed under oath (personal data, educational qualifications, work experience including organizational chart of the institution showing the candidate's position, research outputs and publications, extension activities, experience in resource generation, awards and certificates, conferences attended)

3. Certified true copy of documents in support of the data stated in the Curriculum Vitae. The HR Officer of the organization where the applicant comes from may certify to the authenticity of the documents provided that the original is presented to him/her for comparison.

4. Proposed Vision, Mission and Development Goals for PMMA in not more than five (5) pages.

5. Certificates/Clearances from the following government agencies, obtained not more than three (3) months from the date of filing of application, indicating that the applicant has not been convicted of any administrative or criminal offense:

1. Sandiganbayan
2. Civil Service Commission (CSC)
3. National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)
4. Municipal /Regional Trial Court
5. Ombudsman (for government employees)
6. Institution/Company where applicant is presently employed

6. PSA (NSO)-authenticated Birth Certificate

7. Medical Certificate of Physical Fitness issued by a physician from a DOH-accredited health institution but not the same institution where the applicant is presently employed. Letterhead of hospital or clinic must indicate DOH accreditation number.

8. Results of neuro-psychiatric examination conducted by a physician from a DOH-accredited health institution but not the same institution where the applicant is presently employed. Results should be signed by a neuropsychiatric doctor. Letterhead of clinic/hospital must indicate DOH accreditation number. The test results shall also include a statement indicating the purpose for which the test is taken, e.g. "this test was taken in connection with the applicant's application for the position of President of PMMA."
The Search Committee reserves the right to verify the results of the examination.

9. Duly accomplished CSC Form 212 made under oath.
The Search Committee for President reserves the right to validate and verify the authenticity of documents submitted and the right to accept or reject any document that it deems to be questionable.

The results of the PMMA Neuro-Psychological Examination shall be announced on the same day of the applicant's preferred Neuro-Psychological examination schedule. Hence, those who will successfully pass the Neuro-Psychological Examination are hereby advised to report the following day for their PRE-MEDICAL and LABORATORY EXAMINATION at the following clinic of their choice.

1. What to bring during the date of  PRE-MEDICAL (Height, Weight, Ishihara, Snellens) and Laboratory  Examination

  • Any valid identification - Driver’s License/Recent School I.D./Passport/NBI Clearance. (Submit photocopy of your I.D. to the service providers. NO I.D., NO EXAM)
  • Black ballpen
  • Applicant’s routing slip and Receipt for PRE-MEDICAL (to be given and paid at Neuro-Psychological Examination Venue) before she/he proceed at the ACCREDITED CLINIC.
  • Two (2) pcs. 2x2 COLORED PICTURES WITH NAME TAG (White background)

a. Reminders

  • Applicant’s with-out routing slip and receipt will not be entertained at the clinic for PRE-MEDICAL.
  • YOU HAVE TO PASS THE PRE-MEDICAL you can proceed to the DENTAL EXAMINATION. If qualified that applicant can continue  to the LABORATORY EXAMINATION.
  • Applicants must wear a PLAIN WHITE T-SHIRT with or w/out collar (Sleeveless Shirt, Short pants and slippers are not allowed).
  • Applicants must be at the clinic at 6:00-7:00am or earlier.
  • Pre-Medical and Laboratory examinations will take about 1-2 days.
  • Parents are STRICTLY PROHIBITED inside the Clinic.
  • Applicants are only allowed to take the examinations ONCE.
  • Violation of these policies will be a ground for an applicant’s disqualification.

Once an applicant has qualified/passed the medical screening, he/she should report to the Admissions Office and submit the following documents to the PMMA Registrar’s Office starting June 03, 2019 until June 28, 2019:

  • Senior High School Students Permanent Record DepEd 137-SHS
  • Senior High School DepEd Form 138
  • Honorable Dismissal or Certificate of Transfer Credentials
  • Official Transcript of records for those with college background
  • Birth Certificate: Original Copy secured from Philippine Statistics Authority( PSA)
  • NBI Clearance from place of residence
  • Certificate of Good Moral Character from Barangay
  • Five (5) Copies of 2x2 Pictures ( with nameplate, white background)
  • Signed Parental Consent (Form to be secured from PMMA Admissions Office)

To all successful passers of the 2018 PMMA Entrance Examination qualified for the PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION, please read the schedules and understand the guidelines as indicated.

NEURO-PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION  EXAMINATION

b. WHAT TO DO BEFORE THE EXAMINATION

  • Online registration will open on February 15, 2019. Applicants need to register online to secure a schedule. Onsite verification of attendance will open at 6:00 AM.
  • Visit the PSI website (www.psi-services.net) for online registration.

c. WHAT TO BRING DURING THE DATE OF EXAMINATION

  • Registration Form together with the Payment Slip and one (1) valid I.D. (school ID or any government issued ID)
  • Two (2) pencils and erasers (Not sign pen)

d. REMINDERS

  • Applicants must wear a PLAIN WHITE T-SHIRT with or w/out collar (Sleeveless Shirt, Short pants and slippers are not allowed)
  • Strictly, there will be NO changing of schedule.
  • Applicants are REQUIRED to attend a briefing regarding cadets’ life in PMMA to be conducted by the Commandant of the Department of Midshipmen Affairs.
  • No late comers are allowed to take the test. All applicant-examinees should be in the testing room at 7:00AM.
  • Eat heavy breakfast. Drinking and eating inside the testing room are strictly prohibited.
  • The use of mobile phones and other electrical gadgets are strictly prohibited during examination. Mobile phones and electrical gadgets should be turned off while inside the testing room.
  • Psychological Evaluation-1 day only.
  • Parents are STRICTLY PROHIBITED inside the testing room.
  • Applicants are only allowed to take the examination ONCE.
  • Applicants have to pass the Psychological Evaluation, get the APPLICANT’S ROUTING SLIP to proceed for the PRE-MEDICAL(HEIGHT, WEIGHT, ISIHARA, SNELLENS ,DENTAL EXAMINATION) before he/she proceed with LABORATORY EXAMINATIONS
  • Violation of these policies shall be a ground for an applicant’s disqualification.
