Ratings Forming Part of Navigational Watch

RATINGS FORMING PART OF NAVIGATIONAL WATCH

This course is a four (4) days training based on the requirements of Regulation II/4 of chapter II of the amended annex to 1978 STCW Convention and Section A-II/4 of Chapter 1 and 2 of STCW Code 1995 mandatory requirements for ratings forming part of a navigational watch, Navigational function at the support level and section B-II/4, guidance regarding ratings forming part of a navigational watch.

This training course provides knowledge and skills to perform the navigation function at the support level as specified in column 1 & 2 of the table A-II/4 of the STCW Code 1995. This course is principally intended for the candidates for certification who shall be not less than 18 years old; have completed the Basic Safety Course (BST) and passed the Ishihara test; have completed seagoing service including not less than six months training and experience or special training, either pre-sea or on board, including an approved period or sea going service which shall not be less than two months; meet the standard of competence specified in Section A-II of the STCW-78 Convention as amended in 1995.

Twenty two hours will be spent in classroom instruction and seven hours laboratory using the state of the art PMMA full mission simulator, supported by a competent and well experience faculty.
