The Philippine Merchant Marine Academy offers two (2) Baccalaureate Programs:

  • Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) and
  • Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSMar-E)

It also offers Graduate Studies programs:

  • Master of Science/Master in Maritime Education and Training (MMET) (thesis/non-thesis)
  • Master of Science/Master in Shipping Management (MSM) (thesis/non-thesis)

PMMA also has expanded its offerings by establishing a campus in Cagayan De Oro, which provides Senior Maritime High School education for:

  • Grade 11
  • Grade 12

For Baccalaureate Programs (San Narciso, Zambales):

The PMMA Admissions process for its Baccalaureate Programs consists of four (4) distinct phases that applicants must successfully pass before progressing to the succeeding phase. Firstly, candidates are required to submit their applications and pass the entrance examination. Then, they must undergo neuropsychological screening, followed by medical and dental screenings. Finally, successful candidates are required to complete and pass a one-month probationary training period before they can enroll as fourth-class cadets (1st-year students).

  • Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR) (To be submitted upon enrollment as probationary midshipmen/women.)

For Applicants who are CURRENTLY GRADE 12:

  • Certification from School Principal that applicant is currently enrolled as Grade 12
  • GRADE 11 Report Card

For Applicants who are SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE or CURRENTLY 1ST YEAR COLLEGE:

  • Senior High School Diploma or Form 138/Certificate of enrollment for 1st Year College
  • Grade 12 Report Card/Certificate of Grades or current semester grades

  • 2” x 2” in. (4.5 x 4.5 cm) picture, taken last 6 months.
  • PSA issued Birth Certificate
  • Certification from the School Principal that the applicant is currently enrolled as Grade 10 and/or Form 138 (Grade 10).

The Philippine Merchant Marine Academy administers its Annual Entrance Examination every last Saturday of October of every year simultaneously in 32 Testing Centers nationwide (see list via: https://www.pmma.edu.ph/pmma-testing-centers/). No admission examination is required.


For Senior Maritime High School (PMMA-CDO)

PMMA-CDO administers its Entrance Examination on the last Saturday of April. The examination will commence at 9:00 AM and will take place at the Covered Court of the PMMA-CDO Campus, located at Former Xavier University Grade School (XUGS).

For Baccalaureate Programs (San Narciso, Zambales):

Applicants who are Currently Grade 12, Senior High School Graduate, With College Background and College graduate.


 

For Graduate Studies (Intramuros, Manila):

No admissions examination is required. Applicants are eligible as long as they have successfully completed a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution.

The Annual PMMA Entrance Examination is an Aptitude Test which is a combination of the following:

  • English (Reading Comprehension, Grammar, Vocabulary)
  • High School Mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, and Trigonometry) 
  • Science (Gen. Science, Chemistry, and Physics) and 
  • Abstract Reasoning

For Senior Maritime High School (PMMA-CDO)

The test questions are all the objective types and cover the core subjects of Grade 10 or K10 namely:

  • English (Vocabulary, Grammar, Analogy, Reading Comprehension)
  • Science (General Science, Chemistry and Physics)
  • Mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Statistics and Trigonometry)
  • Abstract and Logic Reasoning

For Baccalaureate Programs (San Narciso, Zambales):

During the application process, applicants will be prompted to create an account. Once their account is created, they can log in to access their account dashboard. Within their account dashboard, applicants can view the status of their application, including any updates or notifications regarding their progress in the admissions process. The PMMA Admissions Office will also send the “TEST PERMIT” of the applicant via email with the applicant’s status. The applicant may also opt to call the Admissions office at (047) 913-4396 (Mondays-Fridays from 8:00AM to 5:00PM) to inquire on the status of his/her application. 

Note: Applicants who are disqualified may still take the entrance examination; however, they will not be able to proceed to the next admissions phases regardless of their examination score. Applicants with incomplete requirements are also permitted to take the examination, but they must fulfil their lacking requirements within the specified deadline.


 

For Graduate Studies (Intramuros, Manila):

The GS Admin will approve/disapprove your enrollment in the system, after reviewing your personal details, the uploaded documentary requirements, and courses chosen.


 

For Senior Maritime High School (PMMA-CDO)

Online registration shall be reviewed by the PMMA-CDO Board of Admissions. Relevant email messages shall be sent to applicant’s email address for any incompleteness of the registration process i.e., uploading of documents and relevant data/information required by BOA to complete the online registration process. Once all requirements have been completed, applicants will receive a notice from BOA for the eligibility to take the examination with further detailed instructions for the Entrance Examination process.

Applicant should/must be:

  • Male or female, physically fit, natural-born Filipino citizen.
  • Single and never been married and has no children out of wedlock.
  • Free from being accused or convicted of any crime against the law and the state.
  • At least 17 years old and not more than 23 years old upon enrollment on August 01.
  • Grade 12 student; College Level
  • At least 160 centimeters (5 ft. & 3 in.) for male and 155 centimeters (5 ft. & 1 in.) for female.
  • BMI of 25.
  • Good academic performance
  • Has never been enrolled in PMMA.

For Senior Maritime High School (PMMA-CDO)

  • Male or Female, physically fit, natural-born Filipino Citizen
  • Single and never been married and has no children out of wedlock
  • Free from being accused or convicted of any crime against the law and the state
  • At least 15 years old and not more than 20 years old upon enrollment on SY:2024-2025
  • Grade 10 completer and has not been enrolled in Grade 11
  • Male 160 cm (5’3″) and Female 155 cm (5’1″)
  • Body Mass Index (BMI) of less than 25

Entrance Examination Fee or Admission Fee is FREE on all programs.

For those who received a “test permit”, please take note of the following:

  • The applicant must arrive at the venue of the examination (designated testing center) at 07:00am. Examination will start at 08:00am and will end at 12:00nn.
  • The applicant must present his/her valid identification card for validation.
  • The applicant shall only be allowed to use Mongol Pencil No. 2, NO calculator is allowed.

For Graduate Studies (Intramuros, Manila):

For Senior Maritime High School (PMMA-CDO)

Arrive one (1) hour before the examination proper;

  • Bring the TEST PERMIT with your attached 2×2 picture;
  • Bring any valid I.D. and Pencil Mongol Number 2;
  • Calculators are not allowed;
  • Wear casual clothes (Sleeveless shirt, short pants and slippers are not allowed).

For Baccalaureate Programs (San Narciso, Zambales):

Yes, as a “WALK-IN” applicant. A walk-in applicant needs to be at his/her preferred testing center on the day of the examination. Please take note that walk-in applicants will be accommodated in a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE Basis (Limited Slots). Requirements will be complied after the examination.

For Senior Maritime High School (PMMA-CDO)

We shall allow walk-in applicants on a case-to-case basis subject to completion of online application. Applicants must come early for this purpose. The cut off time will be 30 minutes before the actual examination time.

For Baccalaureate Programs (San Narciso, Zambales):

Results will be available on the applicants PIMS account and the PMMA shall be posting the FINAL List of Passers in the PMMA Official website and PMMA Official Facebook Page.
