PMMA COMMUNITY SUPPORTS AFFECTED FAMILIES OF THE TAAL VOLCANO ERUPTION
The PMMA Silent Drill Company provided aid which came from their prize when they won Second Runner up during the recently held 1st Presidential Silent Drill Competition last December 20, 2019.
PMMA Superintendent, Commodore Joel Y Abutal, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to every member of the PMMA community who readily helped and heed to the call for donations. He said that this surely showed compassion and leadership characteristics that the Academy has imbibed.
On 31 January 2020, the PMMA as represented by its employees in partnership with the PMMA Alumni Association, Inc. visited Ibaan, Batangas to deliver the packed goods and school supplies to evacuees and displaced families. A total of 300 pieces of blankets and bucket, school supplies, hygiene kits, PMMA t-shirts, cleaning supplies and cooked food were provided to the evacuees. Psychological support activity for children spearheaded by the licensed Guidance Counselors of the academy was also conducted.
Currently, Taal Volcano’s alert status has been lowered to Level 3 following a decline in volcanic earthquakes, slower ground deformation in Volcano Island and the volcano’s caldera, and weak steam and gas emissions at its main crater. However, there could still be sudden steam-driven and even weak phreatomagmatic explosions, volcanic earthquakes, ashfall and lethal volcanic gas expulsions.
